Hardwood Stair Refinish at the Cambria Hotel
We were asked to refinish the existing white oak stairs in the lobby of the Cambria Hotel.

We were asked to refinish the existing white oak stairs in the lobby of the Cambria Hotel. For this project we masked off the entire area, floor to ceiling, in order to contain any dust that might escape from our dust containment equipment as the hotel was open for business during the refinishing process. For our initial cut, we sanded each stair tread and landing down to bare wood using our Lagler Flip sanders. We selected the Lagler sanders for this project because they are very efficient regarding dust collection and less noisy than some of our more aggressive sanders.
We also used the Lagler sanders for our second and third cuts. After completing our first three cuts, we went on to use our Festool random orbit sanders for the fine sanding. These sanders have a very small orbit and work exceptionally well to remove the scratches made while doing our rougher cuts. This helps to smooth the surface of the wood which in turn tends to make the finish last longer. For the finish, we sealed the stairs with Bona Intense Seal which is a very low VOC product with a quick drying time which is good for a commercial project like this one. Finally, we applied two coats of Bona Traffic HD Anti Slip in a satin sheen. We selected this product because it is a two component finish which is extremely durable. It is also a very low VOC product that is Green Guard Gold certified and has exceptionally quick cure times.
